What customization is officially confirmed?
Paradox describes a large selection of customizable plots, buildings, and LEGO decorations. The official FAQ goes further in spirit—“everything”—while also saying future videos and developer diaries will explain customization in more detail.
The safe conclusion is that customization is a central pillar. The unsafe leap is assuming a specific external editor, freeform brick inventory, import format, or sharing service.
Customizable plots
Plots are explicitly described as customizable. Official material does not yet define plot dimensions, terrain editing, snapping, zoning, blueprint saving, copying, rotation limits, or whether plots expand through progression.
Customizable buildings
A key official screenshot shows LEGO bricks visibly changing on a house. That is strong visual evidence of in-game building editing. It does not explain whether players swap modules, recolor parts, place individual bricks, select presets, or unlock decorative elements.

LEGO decorations
Countless LEGO decorations are part of the official promise. Their categories, costs, placement rules, collision behavior, and gameplay effects are not available. They may be cosmetic, functional, or a mix; the evidence does not yet say.
Can you build brick by brick?
No complete brick-by-brick construction system has been described. The visual language shows LEGO pieces assembling and changing, but a trailer animation cannot establish the scope of player controls. Until a developer demonstration appears, “building customization” is the accurate phrase.
Stud.io, custom imports, and mods
BrickLink Studio is an official LEGO design application, but LEGO Skylines integration is reported rather than officially confirmed. In-game customization, importing a Studio model, downloading a Workshop item, and installing a mod are four different capabilities. None should be used as proof of another.
What the next developer diaries need to answer
- Whether players place individual bricks or edit modular sections.
- How designs are saved, copied, and shared.
- Whether citizens react to visual choices.
- Which tools exist on consoles.
- Whether external creations can enter the game.
Paradox has already said more customization coverage is coming, so this page is designed to update without changing its evidence labels.
